The RUN community proudly congratulates Valentin Bergbauer on receiving the prestigious Brigitta und Oskar Braumandl Wissenschaftspreis 2026. The award recognizes outstanding scientific achievements by early-career researchers.
Valentin Bergbauer was honored for his pioneering research in ultrafast nanoscale physics. Together with his team, he developed a novel experimental approach, Near-Field Optical Tunnel Emission (NOTE), which enables scientists to investigate electron dynamics on atomic length scales and ultrafast timescales that were previously inaccessible. His work opens new opportunities for exploring quantum phenomena and next-generation nanotechnologies.
A particularly important aspect of his research is the demonstration that the NOTE technique can be implemented using conventional continuous-wave lasers, significantly broadening its accessibility and potential applications.
We are delighted to see Valentin Bergbauer’s outstanding work recognized with this award and are proud to have him as part of the RUN community. With Valentin, the Braumandl Science Award goes to a RUN researcher for the second time in recent years, following Max Graml, who received the award in 2023.
Congratulations, Valentin, on this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to following your future achievements and celebrating this success with the entire RUN community. 🎉
