Sport event: RUN run

The new RUN is all about the interdisciplinary teamwork of scientists to resolve the ultrafast dynamics of atoms and molecules. To celebrate these two core ideas at the macroscopic level, we are organizing a relay race on 16 July.

Each team will consist of two runners who will race the 2.8 km circuit one after the other. The start and finish are in front of the RUN. If you are interested, please register free of charge under the link by 13 July. If you do not have a team partner, you can also register alone and will then be assigned a partner. Starting documents will be handed out on the day of the race in the foyer of the RUN.

Teams will be categorized into different classes using a points system. Each runner in a team contributes the following points to their team’s total score, depending on age and gender:

 MaleFemale
< 35 y12
> 35 y23

There will be prizes for the fastest teams with 2, 3, and 4 or more points.

Changing rooms and showers can be used free of charge in the sports center. Bags can also be locked away in the rooms of the building. There will be a short race briefing before the run, during which the course and rules will be discussed. After the run, the fastest teams will be honored and the evening will be rounded off with free drinks and food.

The RUNning track

The starting runners of each team begin at the same time in front of the new RUN. The route then leads over the pedestrian bridge towards the sports faculty. From there it goes towards the technical center and up a small hill towards the bridge over the motorway to the University Hospital. Here, however, the runners stay on the left-hand side of the motorway and follow the gravel path around the sports center. After a long left-hand bend and a small corner that needs to be run out of, the route runs on the pavement parallel to the road “Am Biopark”. Shortly after the new RUN, the runners head back onto to the pedestrian bridge and go back to the starting line. There they change over to the second runner, who completes the same route.

Volunteers stand at the edge of the route and point the way at junctions, blind spots and the point where you have to cross the road at the end.
